A woman driving in Folsom with her two young daughters drifted onto light rail tracks after falling asleep at the wheel earlier tonight, but the family was saved by passersby who pulled them from the vehicle minutes before a a train smashed into the car, police said. Oakland police say a woman has died after she was hit by an Amtrak train while apparently trying to make it across the tracks before an oncoming train. Police spokesman Jeff Thomason says 55-year-old Vanessa Hunt of Oakland was struck by the train Wednesday afternoon after she went around lowered crossing barriers and ran across the tracks as a train approached. She was taken to a hospital with internal injuries and died several hours later
