Bicyclist Stuck and Killed by Motorist
On July 19, 2010, at 8:03 a.m., Rancho Cordova Police Department officers responded to the report that a bicyclist had been struck by a car in the area of Whiterock Road and Quality Drive. Officers arrived and found a 61-year-old male lying in the street and suffering from severe injuries. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Motorcyclist Dies During Street Race
On July 18, 2010, at 7:57 p.m., Rancho Cordova Police Department officers responded to the report of a collision between two motorcyclists in the area of Freestone Way and Edington Drive. Officers arrived and found a 19-year-old male lying in the street suffering from severe injuries.
Traffic, parking advisory issued for Elk Grove’s July 4 bash
Elk Grove officials, expecting for a big turnout for the community’s 14th annual Salute to the Red, White and Blue festival and fireworks display Sunday, have issued a traffic and parking alert for those attending the festivities or traveling near Elk Grove Regional Park. Because of anticipated crowds and heavy traffic, street closures and traffic restrictions will be in place that night. The fireworks show will begin at 9:30 p.m.
Hazel Avenue bridge opens ahead of schedule
The bridge over the American River at Hazel Avenue is open again after a weekend of being closed for construction. Drivers were redirected Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.

Riverside-Cirby traffic signal disabled after accident
Roseville motorists are advised to avoid the intersection of Riverside Avenue and Cirby Way after a non-injury collision disabled the traffic signal this afternoon. The signal outage has caused traffic delays, and city officials say repairs likely won’t be completed until Friday morning.
