Sacramento City Council candidate Angelique Ashby has widened her lead over three-term Councilman Ray Tretheway in the race for the District 1 seat in Natomas. With more than 2,000 votes added in a count conducted Friday, Ashby now has 51.49 percent of the vote.
Democrats Dickinson, McCarty tied early for state Assembly
With 13 percent of the precincts reporting, Sacramento County Supervisor Roger Dickinson and Sacramento City Councilman Kevin McCarty were virtually tied at 13 percent for state Assembly District 9, which is comprised roughly of the city of Sacramento with a few bits not included, where the winner is likely to become a favorite in the fall due to a majority of Democratic voters.
