Visitors entering the Sacramento County Public Law Library downtown will see a work of art that has outraged critics who say it is anti-Christian and should be removed. A mixed-media artwork at the Sacramento County Public Law Library titled “Moral Values” shows a Bible with a label across the cover that reads: “Warning! May Impair Judgment.”

El Dorado County Fair debuts today

The El Dorado County Fair will open at noon today for a four-day run celebrating “A World of Fun.” Themed areas of vacation destinations from Graceland to Hawaii will be featured, allowing fairgoers to experience a world of sights, sounds and tastes without leaving the Placerville fairgrounds. The fair will also offer traditional events, including carnival rides, wine tasting, livestock judging and Junior Livestock Auction, horse shows, a line-up of musical entertainment, a destruction derby and wheelbarrow racing. The fair will be open from noon to midnight today and Friday, 10 a.m

Yolo County Library rolls out summer reading programs

School may be out, but the Yolo County Library encourages youths of all ages to hit the books this summer. Summer reading programs are offered through August at all of the library’s seven branches, located in the communities of Clarksburg, Davis, Esparto, Knights Landing, West Sacramento, Winters and Yolo. “Make a Splash @ Your Library” is the summer reading program theme for children through age 12
