Sacramento arena hearings conclude; recommendations come next
Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson’s arena task force completed two days of hearings today and now turns its eye toward a March 11 deadline for bringing the mayor a recommendation. Meeting in a tightly packed Holiday Inn conference room in Natomas, the panel heard presentations from the seven groups pitching plans on where and how to build a replacement for aging Arco Arena.

Boy Scout centennial to be celebrated in El Dorado County
El Dorado County Boy Scouts will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts in America during a breakfast Feb. 10 at the Holiday Inn Express in El Dorado Hills. Dave Bender, or KOVR Channel 13, will serve as master of ceremonies for the Scout’s annual “Report to the Community.” The event will honor El Dorado Hills Fire Chief Brian Veerkamp.
Capitol Alert: Bottom line in FPPC probe: 66 gifts worth $8,500
The grand total in alleged public disclosure violations by dozens of California lawmakers is 66 gifts valued at more than $8,500, according to a review of Fair Political Practices Commission documents. The gifts ranged from $390 for a Holiday Bowl college football game to $250 in green fees, $195 for admission to Sea World San Diego, $282 in Disneyland park-hopper tickets and numerous meals, receptions, beverage, parking or other tabs.
