Watt Avenue Suspicious Death/Homicide Suspect Arrested

On September 2, 2010, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested 26-year-old Juan Carlos Orozco at a relative’s home in Delano, California. Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives believe Orozco murdered 69-year-old Galen Joseph May, in his Watt Avenue apartment sometime between August 26 and August 28, 2010

Suspicious Death on Watt Ave Considered a Homicide

On August 30, 2010, Sacramento County Coroner’s Office officials notified Sheriff’s Homicide detectives the manner of 69-year-old Galen Joseph May’s (see photo below) death was homicide.

Suspicious Death on Watt Avenue

On August 28, 2010, at 3:18 p.m., Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an apartment complex located in the 7700 block of Watt Avenue to check on the welfare of a tenant after a neighbor noticed an apartment door ajar and a subject lying on the floor. Deputies arrived and discovered who they believe to be the 69-year-old resident of the apartment dead on the floor. The cause of his death and how long he had been dead were not obvious.

Homicide on 42nd Street

On August 29, 2010, at 3:18 a.m., Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a shooting in the 5600 block of 42nd Street. Deputies arrived and found a vehicle which had crashed into a light pole at the corner of 42nd Street and Apostolo Circle.

Police Investigating Possible Connection between Child Annoyance and Attempted Kidnapping

On August 24, 2010, at 11:52 a.m., Rancho Cordova Police Department (RCPD) officers responded to Williamson Elementary School to speak to two students who told school officials they had been offered a ride by a stranger as they were walking home from school on Pinturo Way. The students, one 8-year-old girl and one 10-year-old boy, described the suspect only as a white male adult in a white van. The officers were unable to locate the suspect or his vehicle.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Robbery detectives are asking for help in identifying the two suspects responsible for the August 12, 2010, robbery of the Pizza Hut restaurant located at 10731 Coloma Road. At 10:50 p.m., the suspects, one of whom was armed with a handgun, entered the restaurant and forcibly took money from the cash register before they both fled from the scene on foot
