Thousands of people are gathering at the former McClellan Air Force Base in North Highlands this morning to honor nine military fliers who perished in a disastrous crash over the Pacific Ocean last week. Relatives and military representatives have come from across the country to pay tribute to seven Coast Guard members and two Marines who were lost at sea when their aircrafts inexplicably collided. Family and friends of the fallen fliers are starting to file into a large tent that has been assembled for the service.
