SAN FRANCISCO — Transportation officials say they won’t need to fully close the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge as they had expected to complete repairs to a cracked beam. State Transportation Department spokesman Bart Ney said Monday engineers were able to come up with a construction plan that will only require the closure of some bridge lanes at night. The project is supposed to provide a long-term fix to the crack on the bridge’s eastern span that was discovered over the Labor Day holiday.
