Sacramento police today identified a Fresno man they shot and killed in Meadowview on Monday. He was identified as 32-year-old Meng Xiong. He and his brother, Zang Xiong, 23, are suspected of committing a home invasion of a residence on O’Neil Way, police said.

A habitual sex offender who was released from prison last month after a judge’s ruling that his sentence was unconstitutional is back in jail after allegedly having inappropriate contact with a teen, according to authorities. Sacramento County’s Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Team arrested 55-year-old Robert Winston Precobb on Tuesday. Officers booked him into the Main Jail on suspicion of felony child molestation and failure to register his address, according to authorities

Sacto 9-1-1: Teen shot and killed in south Sacramento this morning

A teenage boy was shot to death on a south Sacramento street this morning, police said. Sacramento police were called to Mack Road and Summerdale Way in south Sacramento’s Parkway neighborhood at 7 a.m. There, officers found the 17-year-old lying on the sidewalk next to an apartment complex, said police spokesman Sgt.

El Dorado mountain recreation permit program expanded

The El Dorado Irrigation District is expanding its annual permit program to cover day use and boating at three of its mountain recreation areas. Annual permits have long been available for Jenkinson Lake in the Sly Park Recreation Area, off Highway 50 near Pollock Pines. Now the permit also covers use of Caples and Silver lakes.
