County will use grant to revamp DUI programs
Jan Scully The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office is muscling up against DUI offenders who kill and maim, thanks to a $1 million boost. District Attorney Jan Scully announced Friday the receipt of a $1 million grant to form a team for the prosecution of DUI suspects and the prevention of DUI-related injuries or deaths, according to a news release. The two-year grant will fund a specialized team to prosecute DUIs that result in death or serious injury and a DUI community awareness program focused on educating juvenile and adult drivers and alerting potential passengers to the dangers of drivers under the influence, the release states.

No firm timetable for Bay Bridge’s reopening
SAN FRANCISCO — Crews worked through the night to finish repairs to the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, but officials still had no firm idea of when the span would open to traffic.
